Today's Featured Biography
Douglas Woolveton
The marriage to high school sweetheart, Marlene Kestler, class of ’70, ended after six years. Having no children made the parting more manageable but left a big broken heart. Over the years, we have been able to maintain a friendly relationship and I visit her parents, now Mom, periodically. I was fortunate to be asked to give the eulogy at her Dad’s memorial service.
I endured a long nine years to get my Bachelor’s degree from CSU while working full time in the auto repair industry. I then taught vocational auto mechanics at the DPS Career Education Center. I learned that the red tape of educational administration was not for me and I suffered teacher burn out after seven years of loving what I did with students but hating much of what the educational system seemed to fall short on for my expectations.
Fortunately on my last year of teaching, I met a teacher of Early Childhood Education who was there on a temporary assignment. We were both too busy for dating but eventually went out to dance….as we neither one desired to have any permanent relationship at the time. Soon we had fallen in love and I became married to the love of my life, Barbara Ketzner, originally a Kansas farm girl. Twenty eight years later, she’s still the love of my life!! Barb was a stay at home Mom for our boys, which paid dividends, and she now stays busy as a full time building substitute teacher in our local system where she is loved. She is also very active in our church bell choir.
I made a career change in 1983 and connected with Hunter Engineering as a sales representative of automotive service equipment. In 1985 I was offered a management position with Hunter that took us to Yardley, a suburb of Philadelphia, where we still reside. I’m now 25 plus years at Hunter and still enjoying it.
Barb & I have two sons, Matthew, now 26 and Ryan, 23. Both are engineering graduates of Penn State. Matthew lives in Washington, DC and is an electrical engineer for Lockheed Martin. Ryan is a mechanical engineer working for a large utility type company in the Philadelphia area, Excelon Power. Both boys are single with no serious girlfriends but many social friends. They are also best of friends. God has richly Blessed us with our sons!
We enjoy family time together as much as possible and do take special vacations from time to time. Barb & I have enjoyed ballroom dancing lessons and we stay plenty busy with church activities, Lutheran Marriage Encounter and the labor of love in maintaining our yard, flowers, garden & home. I also enjoy an occasional drive in my ’69 SS-396 El Camino that has been with me all these years!
No immediate plans of retirement right now but we’re OK with that considering we are in good health and have more blessings than can be counted. We hope to travel around the country via motorhome during part of our retirement.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
