Today's Featured Biography
Michael Reiff
After high school I attended Brandeis University for my BA. I returned to Denver for medical school. While in medical school I was involved in '60s politics and that changed my direction. I did my pediatrics residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, NY, and finished my residence at Lincoln Hospital in the South Bronx, where many like-minded folks gathered to become the "Lincoln Collective" and work for political change of the health care system (we still have a long way to go!) After this I moved with friends to Western Mass. and we started a community-controlled rural health center. I was lucky there to also find a wonderful musical community and continue the musical side of my life. I've also attended a music camp in Vermont for about 40 years and there met my wife Jennifer. After moves through Cambridge, Orange County CA, Los Angeles, we landed in Minneapolis. Having done a lot of work with ADHD in the past, I'm the presently the director of the Autism Spectrum Disorder Program here at the University of Minnesota, and find the field of developmental behavioral pediatrics still fascinating and energizing. I have 2 children, Dylan (29) and Jessie (27). Dylan works in media and just took a position with Sundance Festival, and Jessie is in graduate school in social work at U Wash. Not yet involved in grandparenthood. Still playing the violin. Music (particularly chamber music) has always been a big part of my life, and this continues with my weekly string quartet, and attending workshops here in the US and Europe.
