Today's Featured Biography
Edward Sellers
Moved to Idaho December 15, 1976 from Gardiner, MT. Played basketball Soph B, ran 880, 440, 1 mile (once) in track. Lettered but quit before realizing I had qualified (culture shock got me). Detached myself, but made the best of being a fly on the wall.
Attended U of I in Moscow. Pledged Sigma Chi with Dane Hunt, Eric Eisenmann. Enjoyed many times walking on lips. Got through in six years after having two bad crashes within the first four years.
Worked one and a half years as a research surveyor on a statewide tourism survey. Two survey sites were near Sun Valley. I stayed in Ketchum a total of two weeks during the 18 months of the survey. Can you guess where I decided to live after the project was completed? I've been living here in Ketchum and Hailey for 22 years. I did spend my first four summers working as a Ranger/firefighter in National Parks, then I did trail work for the Forest Service on the Ketchum Ranger District, then for the Sawtooth NRA as a survey coordinator.
I sneaked over to Salmon to marry a sweet little ball of energy who was disgused as a very pretty woman. For exactly seven years we romped around in the wilderness, yurted in the deep snows of the Boulder, Smokey, Sawtooth, and White Cloud Mountains, not to mention hitting every hot spring anywhere we could find one. We climbed mountains, but could not get over the wall of diminishing returns. She moved on, and I rededicated myself to my ministry.
Everyone knows the truth, I learned, to the best of thier knowledge and comprehen-sion. When the absolute truth is revealed only one spirit will unite all. That spirit is love (see 1 John 4:8,16).
I'm looking for a real job because vending snacks and beverages does not pay the mortgage. Government jobs don't offer near what they did in the National Parks from where I came before Boise. I have not remarried, my ministry is on hold. The 30th class reunion was just the boost I needed to get me through these last few weeks in this time of worldly woa. Onward to you all in the spirit we showed at that all-time classic party of the reunion!
