Today's Featured Biography
Delene Joy Romine
This is another one of those deals where Jim Runyan threatened me if I didn't do my own bio. Rather than having him tell it his way, I'll do it my way.
I was married to the love of my life in 1968, David. We will be married 40 years this October. After graduation I went to California for my sister's wedding. I was her maid of honor and Dave was the best man. I thought so too. A couple of months after I came back to New Mexico, Dave sent me a letter asking me to marry him. About that time, I went back to California for a cousin's funeral. While I was there, Dave asked me again (he hadn't gotten my letter with my answer yet). I said yes. He took me to the top of Rubido Mountain by Riverside. Under the cross that is on top of the mountain, he gave me my engagement ring. We decided to get married that October.
We have three sons: Michael born in 1972, William (Bill) born in 1974 and Gary born in 1978.
Mike is married, has 6 children (4 girls, 1 boy) is a Captain on the Farmington Fire Dept. and lives in Cortez, CO.
Bill is married, has 2 sons, is the operations supervisor for Navajo and lives in Artesia.
Gary is married has 3 children (2 boys, 1 girl) works as IT Tech at REDA, the 911 dispatch center, and lives in Artesia.
My family is my life. We lived in Ohio for ten years before moving back to New Mexico. I raised my children and then went to college. I know a little backwards, but oh well. I was never accused of doing things the normal way.
I have worked at many different jobs besides wife and mother - school cook, bus driver, telephone operator, retail clerk, and a few others. Lastly I retired as an inventory accountant at Navajo.
I hope to retire before I am too old. We still have part of my families ranch. I would like to move permamently to the ranch and travel with my husband. He has already retired, and I am jealous. This doesn't seem fair- he is retired, and I stll work. Something is wrong with this picture. Update here. I retired. We live at the ranch. We have many goats, a llama, chickens and 4 dogs. My husband and I volunteer at Runyan Ranches and petting zoo.
I have been very blessed. God has been gracious and very good to us.
