In October 2008 I retired as a working geochemist and we returned to our home in Colorado. This year Karen and I will celebrate our 42nd Wedding Anniversary. We met at the University of Colorado where I got a B.A. (1965) and M.S. (1974). Karen has a B.S. in English (1972) and has worked as a Technical Editor and Subcontract Administrator. I served as a Navy Officer in the western Pacific during the unpleasantness in SE Asia. I then got a Ph.D. in Geochemistry from Penn State in 1977. We have lived in Yokosuka, Japan, Idaho Falls, ID; Albuquerque, NM; Seattle, WA; Golden, CO; and Las Vegas, NV. Most of my work has been in the field of environmental cleanup. My projects have been all over the U.S. and in Peru.
Upon our return to Colorado, Karen decided that the home needed an upgrade and that she had better get the work out of me as soon as possible, so I have been working on that for the last year. Karen is a subcontract administrator and will work for another year or so. Thus, I have attained one of my lifetime goals, to become a "kept man."
