Larry Jordan
Lieutenant Commander (LCDR) Larry L. Jordan, USN, Retired
Born in Louisville, Kentucky, and a graduate of duPont Manual High School and of University of Phoenix with a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. Enlisted in the United States Navy and entered Boot Camp in February 1973.
After Boot Camp and Seaman Apprenticeship training at Recruit Training Center, Great Lakes, Illinois he commenced his career in the Navy as a Seamen Apprentice (E-2) and advanced to the rank of Master Chief Radioman (E-9). His enlisted tours include serving onboard USS Constellation (CVA-64) from June 1973 to April 1975, USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63) from May 1975 to November 1975, USS Oriskany (CV-34) from November 1975 to February 1976, USS Ranger (CV-61) from March 1976 to February 1977, Naval Communications Station San Diego, California from October 1977 to October 1979, Naval Communications Station Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory from November 1979 to November 1980, USS England (CG-22) from January 1981 to November 1982, Naval Security Group Activity Adak, Alaska from January 1983 to April 1984, Defense Communications Agency Operations Center, Washington, DC from May 1984 to May 1987, and USS Peterson (DD-969) from June 1987 to July 1990. In July 1990, he was commissioned as an Naval Officer to the grade of Ensign (O-1E) and during his career was promoted up to the grade of Lieutenant Commander (O-4) under the Limited Duty Officer Program.
After his commissioning, he served in USS Iwo Jima (LPH-2) as Radio Officer from August 1990 to July 1993. He was then assigned as Head Operations Inspection Branch in the Inspector General's Office of the Naval Computer and Telecommunications Command (COMNAVCOMTELCOM) Washington, DC from July 1993 to September 1996. Lieutenant Commander (LCDR) Jordan returned to sea in October 1996 to the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) until October 1998 as Combat Systems Information Officer, Head of Combat Information System Branch, and earned his warfare insignia as a Surface Warfare Officer. In 1998, he was assigned to United States Central Command MacDill Air Force Base, Florida where he served as Head of Communications Operations in the Intelligence Directorate (CCJ2). In 2003, LCDR Jordan retired from active duty in the United States Navy after serving over 30 years of naval service. In 2008, he joined the faculty at Richard C. Spoto High School as the Senior Naval Science Instructor (SNSI) teaching Naval Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) until July 30, 2010. On August 1, 2010, he joined the faculty at A.P. Leto Comprehensive High School as the Senior Naval Science Instructor.
Lieutenant Commander Jordan wears the device of Surface Warfare Officer. His decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, two Joint Service Commendation Medals, two Joint Service Achievement Medals, three Navy Commendation Medals, the Navy Achievement Medal, four Good Conduct Medals, and various joint and service related campaign ribbons and awards.
