Today's Featured Biography
Colin Collins
After High School graduation, I attended the University of Maryland until drafted into the Army in 1966. I ended up going to Officer Candidate School (Field Artillery) then Flight School where I became a Helicopter Pilot. I served in Vietnam from 1968-1969 as a Pilot and left the Army in 1972 with the rank of Captain after a final tour as a Helicopter Instructor Pilot at the Army's Primary Helicopter School, Ft. Wolters, in Mineral Wells Texas.
I opened a Corvette Body Repair/Customization Shop in San Antonio Texas later in 1972 and sold the business in 1975. Then I went to work for the largest volumn Lincoln Mercury Dealership in the Country in 1975 as the Bodyshop Manager. I retired from there in 2005 after 30 years.
My wife Felici and I have been married 56 years on September 23 2023 and have 2 sons both who live nearby. We have 8 grandchildren in ages from 36 to 16! Four Boys and four Girls. Our oldest son Steve has SEVEN and our youngest son Tim has one. Tim has Cable TV..
We have THREE Great Grandchildren, Great Grandson Gabrial will be 8 on 12/30/20 and our First Great Grandaughter, Dahlia was 6 on 9/24/19. Our newest Great Grandaughter Alina is 2.
Our oldest Grandson, Stephen, has joined the Navy in 2019 and his specialty is Naval Air Sea Rescue Diver. We are very proud of Stephen's accomplishments as he has chosen a Specialty that is hard to qualify for. He works out of a Navy Seahawk Helicopter, kind of like his Grandad did 50 some years ago.
My hobbies are Family, Washington Redskins Football (My sons and I are diehard 'Skins fans and with my Grandsons we try and attend the Redskins-Cowboys Game in Texas every year), and Cars/Hotrods. I currently own a 2008 Ford Chip Foose Edition Roush Supercharged F-150 (one of only 500 made) and a 2006 Chevrolet SSR Convertible Truck. I am a member of a couple National Prowler Clubs and Corvette Clubs. My wife Felici and I like to travel and we try to go somewhere together at least once every year. We would try and visit my Mom, who lived in Winchester, Virginia, 3-4 times a year too.
Mom passed away in June 9 2012 at the age of 100, almost 101 and lived a full life up until the day she died. We all miss her.
In December 2013, we moved into our FIRST New Home, a brand-new construction by Perry Homes here in San Antonio.
