Today's Featured Biography
Leia Ingram
Ten years ago, I was the fat kid in the class that didn't have many friends. Now, I'm an electrician in the United States Navy stationed in San Diego aboard an aircraft carrier and I'm in the best shape of my life, thanks to a diet/exercise regimen I started 6 years ago when I was attending PG Community College.
I stay engaged in the real world on a daily basis, but I admit to enjoying my downtime in front of the TV, watching engaging crime dramas such as “NCIS” and “Criminal Minds”, even taking it a step further to play “Whodunit” right alongside the main characters of the show. I love using my deductive reasoning to try to figure out who did it before Agent Gibbs or Agent Morgan figures it out. I’d still much rather be writing the story of my life for the big screen. Action/Adventure? Drama? Comedy? It depends on what my horoscope says that day. I enjoy learning new skills, especially ones that are practical and useful for the real world, such as swimming, which I took up last summer. In my MP3 player right now: a ton of Motown, old school R&B, movie soundtracks and smooth jazz, as well as jazz fusion drummer Lenny White’s “Streamline” album from 1978, which is my personal favorite, and some Mozart to help me focus when I’m studying for my job.
I love the sensation of sweat-inducing exercise as I push every muscle in my body to its limit, feeling them grow hard and strong or as I run around the track, feeling every drop of air that I inhale fill me with the energy I need to complete my evolution for that day. I like to balance this out by reading books on my Kindle or in my hands, vegetating on my bunk and either listening to my MP3 player or taking a refreshing nap when I’m not busy fixing lights, out for a mind-clearing drive on the freeway or standing duty on my ship. I love bobbing my head to an old James Brown song, the sleep-inducing feeling of the orchestra playing in the background of a classic R&B standard by the Dells, or hearing the joy, amusement and pride in my mother’s voice when I call home.
I am a huge fan of reading because not only can you travel to somewhere you've never been before when you read any type of fiction, but you can easily change a bad habit and practice a good one, create a masterpiece in the kitchen, or pass on solid words of advice to a dear friend in need of it. I tend to focus more on the genres of self-improvement, military fiction, martial arts, and action because of the inner badass within me that has yet to show through my usual laid-back, quiet personality. Don't get me wrong, I am a sociable person. It has to be the right kind of conversation at the right time with the right people (or person). I value my solitude at times because I can develop as a person by reading up more on self-development, improving my health, and the plain old excuse to just get away from it all, but I definitely love spending time with my friends, whether it's a get-together at someone's house, some window shopping during the afternoon, or a night out on the town.
Music, to me, is not as good as it was before the 2000s came. Don't get me wrong, there are a few songs that are out at the moment that have potential, but I'd much rather go back to the days where there was more than just sex, money, and fame being talked about in songs....and there were some real instruments being used in the recording studio. This is why I am a huge fan of old-school R&B and hip-hop more now than I ever was as a child. The Temptations, Diana Ross and the Supremes, Luther Vandross, Teddy Pendergrass....you name the artist, more than likely I've heard them growing up and have a couple of their songs (or albums) on my MP3 player right now.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
