Today's Featured Biography
Thomas Noble
I attended Chillum Elementary, Rollingcrest Jr. High and Northwestern but my family moved in '72 before I graduated. I graduated from Paintbranch H.S. in Burtonsville, MD. Went to Montgomery College, transferred to UM and graduated in 1980. Worked for Comsat in Clarksburg, MD, for 13 years, first as a chemist and then in materials science. While working at Comsat I obtained a Master's degree in Materials Science from Johns Hopkins University. During this time I first moved to Germantown, MD and then to New Market, MD.
I left Comsat to work for Fusion Semiconductor in Rockville, MD. While working for Fusion I married my wife, Lou, and my daughter was born. I traveled internationally with the job and visited and made friends in France, Italy, South Korea, Singapore, Tiawan, Japan and all over the US. Good times.
After 5 years with Fusion I went to work for another satellite company, ORBCOMM, as a project manager and have been working as a project manager ever since. I've held several positions, about 10 years with 3e-TI International, a government contracting firm in Rockville, and two stints with Chenega. In 2015 I took a position managing a cybersecurity group for Virtustream which was then acquired by DELL. Most recently I moved to Raleigh, NC and accepted a position with Qualys, a world class cybersecurity solutions provider.
We love it here in Raleigh and plan to spend the rest of our days here. I work too much to have many hobbies other than the house and family. Our daughter is a competitive baton twirler who competes internationally so we've had the opportunity to visit Europe several times for her competitions. I've also managed to squeeze in some motorcycle racing here and there, winning a couple amateur championships and setting a land speed racing record. Throughout the years I've played in bands, although not much recently, but plan to get back into it.
I have to say, I've been truly blessed. Growing up in Chillum and going to NWHS was great, and I'll never forget it. Hope you all are doing well and that our paths cross.
