Louise Gresham
Leadership & Staff
NTI Projects
Louise S. Gresham, PhD, MPH
Louise Gresham has expertise in national and international disease surveillance systems, in particular managing the intersection of public health, international policy and global security. She left NTI in 2012.
At NTI Gresham focused on building regional disease surveillance networks, including the Middle East Consortium on Infectious Disease Surveillance, the Mekong Basin and the Southern African Centre for Infectious Disease Surveillance. This successful work has evolved into an opportunity to connect these regional groups into a global network, called Connecting Organizations for Regional Disease Surveillance (CORDS), an effort Gresham is leading.
In 2010, Gresham participated in the development of the first modern tuberculosis laboratory in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, joining the Stanford University-led Bay Area TB Consortium, a group of medical professionals, and Christian Friends of North Korea, a humanitarian group.
Gresham earlier served as the senior epidemiologist for San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency, which provided her with extensive experience managing infectious disease surveillance and response activities, syndromic surveillance systems, and policymaking.
Gresham is an adjunct associate professor with the Graduate School of Public Health at San Diego State University. She has written a number of articles published in peer-reviewed journals.
Gresham was awarded a doctorate in public health from the University of California San Diego, as well as a master's degree in public health, in epidemiology and biostatistics from San Diego State University. She holds a bachelor's degree in biology from Loma Linda University.
