Kimberly A JANIS
=OBIT=
KIMBERLY JANIS OBITUARY
Kim Ann Janis, age 64, of Erie, passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at UPMC Hamot Hospital. She was born in Erie on June 7, 1958, daughter of the late Michael and Marjorie (Schmieder) Janis. Nicknamed "Dynamite" at a young age by one of her favorite uncles, Kim would grow into that moniker in every sense.
A 1976 graduate of the former Strong Vincent High School, she went on to graduate from Penn State University in 1986; having earned her Bachelor of Science degree. Being very athletic from youth, Kim excelled in every sport she participated in. She was especially accomplished in golf and her passion, downhill ski racing. An early skiing accident sadly ended her ability to race but did not erase her love of all sports or her feisty competitive nature.
In addition, Kim loved listening to music, which became one of her greatest joys. She also thrived on being surrounded by her family, especially her young nieces and nephews whom she adored. The only other thing in life that brought her more joy was the companionship and love of her late pet dog, Shadow, who she is finally reunited with and running throughout the heavens together.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Harrington. Kim is lovingly survived by her sister, Deborah A. Akin (James Newlin); a dear cousin and caregiver, Kate Schmieder; two nephews: Michael Harrington (Katie) and Shaun Akin (Donelle); one niece, Ashley Grant (Travis); 5 great nephews; 3 great nieces; and one great-great nephew.
A private interment will be held at North East Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dusckas-Taylor Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Harborcreek. Memorial contributions may be made to the ANNA Shelter or Erie Humane Society.

Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
