My college years were spent at Edison and USF. I originally met my husband Michael (a Marietta College alum) in 1979, then got "reacquainted" with him in 1981. We opened our own art and custom framing gallery, PORTFOLIO, in the Bell Tower Shops in October 1982 and will celebrate our 25th year in business this October 2007.
Michael and I married in April 1983 and were blessed in the following years with two beautiful daughters; Morgan in 1984 and Mackenzie in 1986. Both girls attended Fort Myers High (IB and Honors), carrying on the Green Wave tradition.
Morgan graduated,Summa Cum Laude,from the University of Miami in May 2006. She spent a year on the road as a field consultant for Tri-Delta and has now returned to teach Honors and Pre-IB English at Fort Myers High! Go, Greenies!
Mackenzie spent her first two years of college at UCF, but moved back to Fort Myers and is now enjoying the more personal campus at FGCU as she finishes her degree in Business. She and Morgan share a condo -- I'm so glad they are friends as well as sisters!
The rest of my family moved away from Fort Myers. My sister Angel (Class of '78) and my mother both moved to North Carolina many years ago; my younger sister Laura (Class of '80) has lived in Seminole, Florida for over 15 years; my father passed away over a decade ago -- coincidentally, his widow and my brother Paul also live in North Carolina these days.
I see some of our old classmates -- Kathy Rothwell Adler, Melissa Pigott, Dr. Michael Verwest -- from time to time -- and see other alumni from the years before and after ours, but not as many people as you'd imagine, given that I've continued to make my life in Fort Myers. I'm looking forward to catching up with more of you!
