We have been enjoying the Garage & their choice menu. I particularly like taking home leftovers & eating one or two more meals. People seem more relaxed there. It has a nice feeling.
I apologize for changing the date to December 7. Since it is a busy time of year some of the classmates thought that it would be better to have our luncheon earlier, allowing more time for Christmas preparation.
10/27/2026 Janis Avery Kaffel Passed Away during the last weeks of October 2026.
Janis had been suffering from two different types of cancer over the last 7 years. She has been happily married & living in Colorado with her husband since 1995.

Following graduation, I went to work at PSNS as an apprentice shipfitter and hated every minute of it. I attended some nite classes at Olympic and joined the army reserves, but then went regular army in January of 66. I spent 4 years in the army with one year in the Boston area, two tours in Viet Nam and one year in the Tucson area. I went back to college following my discharge and married Kathy Strehlow (West High, class of 68). I graduated from the U of W in 1973 with a degree in Political Science and attended one year of grad school. I have one daughter, Ingrid, who has also graduated from the U of W with a degree in Communications. I have been divorced for 48 years while my daughter has been married for two years. She is employed with T. Mobile in Bellevue as a senior manager and supervises T. Mobile's web site. I spent 33 years with Farmers Insurance in claims management and retired April 1 2008. Like someone else in our class, I (too) have discovered that I didn't like working but do enjoy receiving two checks each month for not doing same. My main interests are getting together with friends for lunch, catching movies in the afternoon, and have a renewed interest in reading. In February of 2015, I decided that I desperately needed a change in my life and narrowed down my choices to either a new car, joining a dating service, or get a dog. I went with the dog. Seven years later I believe that I definitely made the right choice. Unfortunately I will not be attending our 55th reunion due to family matters. I hope everyone will still be around for the 60th
