Today's Featured Biography
Brad Gehring
After graduating, I went to OC for a year - then went to work for Boeing in the R&D dept as a mechanic. After reporting for my selective service physical, I outsmarted (?) the system and enlisted in 1967. While in the military, I saw service in Vietnam and a short stint in Korea. While in the military, I pursued my education, taking classes from San Diego State College (they had a remote program - and I continued there after my return to CONUS.)
After my discharge, I returned to B-town, OC and later, Boeing - back in R&D, this time in engineering. Concurrent with that, I was taking classes at UW.
During this time frame, I also did some various contract work which took me to some interesting places. Just short term stuff, but experiencing several interesting adventures.
In the mid 70's I participated in sports car racing - Fun and expensive. I continued with that effort until the late 1980s, did OK. Raced locally in ICSCC & SCCA and also did a bit of racing in the IMSA, CAN-AM and MolySlip Endurance series. I raced Triumph, Honda (!), Mazda, Brabram, Lotus and Lola race cars.
As is the case, life travels down more than one road - In 1977 I went to work for another aerospace company, Lockheed Missiles & Space. I stayed with them in various capacities until 2004.
One of the better roads I took was to marry Patricia Dawson in 1979 - we have raised two boys, Paul (born 1982) and Kyle (born 1987). Paul is currently a baseball coach at Edmonds CC. and Kyle is an Independent film maker with several well rated releases.
More concurrent roads - As time went on, I took more classes and got a couple of degrees - among the schools I attended were Texas A&M and USC. Yes, football season is interesting.
Yet more! In 1990 I purchased a business in East Bremerton which became Gehring Brothers Guns. We also had Gehring Brothers Training and Puget Sound Preparedness Systems. We sold the property to Kitsap Bank in 2005 (or so) and they are currently building a new bank and processing center on the sight.
Currently, I am retired from aerospace, but continue working part time running Invictus Training 7 Services in Tacoma, Wa. We provide a variety of firearms and personal defense training classes and provide Executive Protection services.
Life is good.
