Today's Featured Biography
Richard M Huckeby
Best remembered teachers: Vern Arnold, Harold Keables.
Went in USAF Jul 48, served one year at Mather AFB, Calif, then into reserve for five years.
Came back to Denver, started night school, then recalled into AF for Korean thing; this time did two and half years, all at Lowry AFB. Kept on going to night school.
Got married while in service to Gloria M. Cozak of Ladysmith, Wis. Have five children by her, youngest now in mid-40s. Have only one grandchild, now a Colo State Patrolman. She left in 72 and lived by myself til 2000
Graduated from DU law school and admitted to Colo Bar in 59.
Practiced law for 30 years; did a lot of real estate stuff, including creation of Crested Butte South. Was RE broker for over twenty years under name Blue Sky Realty.
Incorporated two narrow gauge tourist railroads, the Colorado Central Narrow Gauge RR, intended to restore old RR from Central City to Blackhawk. Opened in Aug 78--ran for several years; then Colo Historical Society approached me to restore Georgetown Loop. I incorporated the Georgetown Loop RR in 72, and started running in 73. Finally got high bridge built in 86.
Retired from law practice in 90 and, like most retirees, moved to Florida, where started Video production business. Moved to Charleston, SC., in 87, then met the love of my life while looking for a borrowed gun, and subsequently moved to Va. where she lived, and married her ten years ago.
Am now looking for place near Delta so as to return to Colo. My brother lives near there, as does my niece and her family.
To help me celebrate my 80th, the VA shoved a catheter into my ticker, installed two stents, and said, "Go have it again."
So am looking forward to getting back to CC (Colorful Colorado).
