Today's Featured Biography
Steve Reffalt
I live in southern MS about 35 miles north of Gulfport. My 2nd wife, Annie and I live on 25 acres surrounded on 2 sides by a river and a creek. The river affords me the opportunity to canoe it many times during the year, one of my most favorite things to do.
Our woods are beautiful, peaceful and a wonderful way to retire. After raising a variety of animals, our lives are now filled with 3 dogs who provide us much love and laughter.
Following high school I served in the Navy as a submariner in the Korean War but Martin Marietta, now Lockheed Martin, was my mistress. I started out at the bottom of the totem pole and with 35 years of hard work, long days and nights, lots of travel and moving around the country I achieved more than I could have dreamed when I started. It was an honor and fun to be a part of the space programs - not every day as we all know how that can be - but when I look over my career I can only think with gratitude the opportunities I was given.
In 1954 I married Gloria Fain (we divorced in 1993) and we had 3 children, Stephen (deceased), Michael, and Sherry.
Stephen has 3 chiildren, Christopher (1977), Audra (1980) and Matthew (1983) who all live in Denver. To our great sadness Stephen passed away in 1995. Michael lives in MS and has no children. Sherry lives in Michigan and has 2 children Drew and Derek. Drew married Amanda last year and they recently moved to Houston where he has started his first job following graduation. Derek is zooming through school at Michigan State.
Annie, my wife of 18 yrs, is a civil engineer but spent her career in aerospace and computer programming. She has 2 children, Tammy (1970) and Steven (1976) both of whom live in Denver which is a coincidence since their family doesn't come from there. Her children are wonderful and they consider me their 2nd Dad. Who could ask for more. Steven has 3 children, Alexis (1994), Chase (1999) and Kelsie (2000).
The lives of our children are varied both by where they live, the work they do and the families they are raising. But one thing is constant - inspite of the trials of life - there is always a lot of love, laughter and many blessing. For this we are very grateful.
