Today's Featured Biography
Kathryn Montgomery
Seems like I've always been late for just about everything, but today it's a relief to discover the good company I'm with as I complete this bio the day after our Meet and Greet! :) What fun to see so many gather together again -- many, MANY thanks to all who made this reunion a happenin' thing.
As I strolled around visiting last night, I was also missing LaRue Belcher, our Girls' Dean in 1965. She was an indispensable part of my life way back then, and I regret missing her passing and Celebration of Life several years ago. I think it was somewhere around our 25th reunion when she sat me down, fairly vibrating with all the LaRue-ness she was, and challenged me (with a crinkly wink for good measure): "Honey, why don't you just write a book on 'How NOT To Do It?'” Her love wrapped all around those words; LaRue knew I would find meaning in my life experiences -- that it wasn't "too late". She believed in me for all the years when important others couldn't or wouldn't; hey, she believed in me for all the years I couldn't believe in myself! :) She was indispensable to many (really, to thousands of young women over the many decades of her career) and last night I just really missed her.
So ... no, LaRue, I haven't written the book yet, but I'm finally being the 'me' only you could see while I wandered around blindfolded for 40+ years. :)
I think I confessed to being a 'professional student' in 1990; maybe 'life-long learner' is more accurate now? I finally finished undergrad studies the year my oldest son graduated from college, then just kept on going. Always seeking 'my people' and 'my work', life has been a bit of a treasure hunt for me. :) A couple more marriages (lol), lots of moves, a degree in computer science, then nursing school and grad school in psych until, finally, I began 'my work' as a psychotherapist in 2008. I think I’m scheduled to have my student loans paid by 2038 - ha!
I've been married to Ed Linnabary for 15 years; our kids (my 2 boys and his 2 girls) have blessed us with 9 wonderful grandchildren (4 in CO, 3 in AZ and 2 in MI). Ed is as happy in retirement (after 42 years as a math teacher/coach) as I am with 'my people' and full-time practice. I've been truly blessed to have his continuing 'LaRue-like' support as I discovered there is no such thing as "too late"! :)
We’ve all discovered there's just no certainty about the end of our lives and age pushes me to clean up pieces of my "late" thing. All that said, I just want you to know how appreciative I am for being part of this class! :) I heard some rumors that we'd be getting together more frequently as the years go by and, if they’re true, I’m really looking forward to creating more connections – even treasure-hunting – with you all! :)
Until then ... many blessings.

Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
