I went to work right out of high school, married at 21, divorced at 26, and remarried 1971 to Ivan Widom. Art has been what I’ve been about since approximately the age of 3. My first job was at Montgomery Ward, then Northwestern Nat’l. Ins. Co. as a rate clerk and underwriter, and then Arapahoe Ins. Agency as agent. I finally began to focus on my art more seriously when I married again at age 29.
My family has lived 12 years in Alaska, 2 years in Sedona, AZ, 2 years in Sun Lakes, AZ, one year in Goodland, Kansas and in a number of small Co. cities, incl. Fairplay, Central City, Trinidad, Durango and Cañon City.
In 1976, when living in Trinidad, Co., I taught a high school art class, and continued teaching painting classes through community college programs in the 6 Alaska communities we lived in.
I’ve illustrated 2 Alaska children’s books. The first one, “Go Home, River” was published by Alaska Northwest Books. The illustrations were painted with Octopus Ink, which I got from a fisherman in Seldovia, AK, the last place we lived in Alaska. Seldovia is a small fishing community across the bay from Homer.
For 5 years, up until Oct. 2008 my husband and I owned and operated the Widom Art Gallery on Main Street in Cañon City, where we displayed and sold my paintings and prints. I taught painting classes there as well. We lived above the gallery which was a fun and unique experience!
Our oldest son, Tim, died in a motorcycle accident in 1982 when we lived in Nome, Alaska. He was 18.
Our daughter, Marna (born 1971) lives in Ft. Collins and our son Bryce (born 1973) lives in Boulder. Both are artists. Between the two of them, we have 4 grandchildren, ranging in age from 4 to 18 (as of Dec, 2014).
We moved from Cañon City to Erie to be closer to our grandchildren.
I plan to continue painting, teaching art classes and entering art shows. You can see samples of my art on my website at www.diannewidom.com.
I've been winning awards for my portraits in national and international shows. I love being an artist, and believe I've been artistically inclined my entire life. I will continue with my work until the day I die!!!

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
