Today's Featured Biography

David Keller

Graduated from Franklin & Marshall College in May 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts in Government. Interned for Senator Harris Wofford, Washington, D.C., July - October, 1991. Got tired of working for free as an intern and eating mac and cheese every day, so accepted a job with Robbins-Gioia, a management consulting firm, of Alexandria, VA, in October of that year. Didn't start that job til December of that year, so I worked at Wilson College in the Development Office for the month of November and helped them kick off their Corporate Giving Campaign. Worked for Robbins-Gioia til March '93, when Clinton Administration defense department cut-backs led to me being "workforce reduction"-ed out of a job. Moved to Pittsburgh, PA, to house sit for my brother Vagel, who along with his wife was stationed with the Army outside the country (Vagel in Korea; Debbie in Somalia).
Was jobless and homesick in Pittsburgh, so I moved back to Chambersburg and took a temporary position in sales with Sunrise Computers. Thirteen years later, I'm still with Sunrise. But, in the meantime, I played in a rhythm and blues band, for which I would not have met my wife Rebecca in June '96. Our long distance relationship involved four trips to London in five months in '97, and we were engaged that year in Wales, England. Got married in October '98, and settled down in Chambersburg. In '99, we bought our first home, and are still there on Theodore Dr. in Hamilton Township. Eight years later, we are still happily married. I enlisted in the Navy Reserve as an Intelligence Specialist in May 2001. When 9/11 hit, I thought I would be activated, but thus far my Navy work has just been one weekend a month and two weeks active duty each summer. Currently, I'm supporting an active duty air squadron based in Willow Grove, PA. We fly troops and cargo all over the world. While Rebecca was finishing her Masters in Computer Science at Hood College, Frederick, MD, I decided to take two months off work in the Spring of 2002 to run for office, vying for the Republican party primary in the 9th Congressional district. Even though I finished second out of three candidates, it was great fun and a great experience, and I think I'll try again some day. The brief foray into politics inspired me to puruse a career in public service. So, I started law school in July 2003. Since then, I've been in school three to four evenings a week, with summers off. I'll graduate in May '07 and take the bar exam in July. With a little luck, I'll embark on my new career in October '07. Rebecca and I share our humble little home with four great cats - Harry, Brandy, Schatzi, and Teddy. We're getting pretty good at taking care of them, so maybe we'll try taking care of some real kids sometime soon. Looking forward to seeing everyone soon! All the best, Dave Keller.
