Today's Featured Biography
Melissa McNew Backman
I have done a lot since graduation! I started work for Vision Quest in South Mountain right after high school. That led me to training horses on their wagon train and then I ended up on one of their schooners teaching sailing. I backpacked around Ireland, trained horses in Tennessee, was first mate on a schooner out of Key West, got married when I was 27 and had my daughter Shelby, got divorced and moved to North Carolina.
I am, currently, in Frankfurt Germany. I'm married to my best friend who is a US Diplomat. I'm taking the summer off while my daughter is in the states with her father for the summer. After she gets here, settled, and starts school, I'll be going to work at the US Consulate here in Frankfurt. Exciting stuff and I can't wait! We'll probably go to Russia after this. Tom is fluent in Russian and has lived there before. He loves it. (I've been pushing for an African assignment and also Romania.. we'll get there some day!) We're also looking at a few years in Australia.
The rest of our 'family' includes a Great Dane named Anuschka, an extremely fat cat named Katusha, and a semi-normal cat named Bolo. I had hoped to find some people I've lost contact with, on this site. I love emails!
