Today's Featured Biography
Dawn Ness Tyson
I attended Yoe Elementary School for 8 years. Then, I went to Dallastown High School on Charles Street for grades 9, 10, and 11. My senior year I went to the new high school, which is still in the same location today. It was named the Dallastown Area Senior High School.
After I graduated, I worked as a dental assistant and later as a shirt presser at Mary MacIntosh. My final job was in the Red Lion Area School District as a cafeteria worker. I worked at several different schools in the district for 33 years before I retired.
I married Nevin Monroe Tyson on May 7, 1961.
Our first child was a boy. His name is David Nevin Tyson and he was born at the York Hospital on August 21, 1962.
The second child born to Nevin and me was a girl. Her name is Deborah Sue Tyson and she was born at the York Hospital on October 3, 1966.
We built our home on North Camp Street in Windsor and moved in the year 1963.
We have two grandsons born to our daughter, Deborah. They are Derrick and Kevin.
Derrick Adam Scheetz was born at the Phoenixville Hospital on June 10, 1995, and Kevin David Scheetz was born in the same hospital on January 25, 1999. The family later moved to the Red Lion area.
Derrick graduated from Red Lion Area Senior High School in 2013 and from Shippensburg University in 2017 with a BA Psychology-Magna Cum Laude. He is studying for Industrial Organizational Psychology. He will attend the University of Baltimore to study for his masters.
Kevin graduated from Red Lion Area Senior High School in 2017 and will be attending the University of West Virginia to study music education.
