Today's Featured Biography
Michael Wills Jr.
I joined the Navy in July after graduation and went to bootcamp in Great Lakes, IL. After graduation from bootcamp I went SK "A" school down in Meridian, MS. I took orders to the USS Porter (DDG 78)'s pre-commissioning unit. USS Porter was commissioned in 1999 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and then moved to her homeport in Norfolk, VA. While onboard I was advanced to E-5 and received 2 Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals. I did a 6 month deployment while stationed aboard there to the Mediterranean Sea where I hit ports in Spain, Italy, France, Portugal, Greece, Turkey, Croatia, and Malta. I also visited other places around the USA and the Caribbean. After spending almost 4 years there I was stationed at the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth VA from January 2003 to October 2005. While there I was advanced to E-6 and received another Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal. While there I was deployed to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba for six months, while there I did supply for the Detention Hospital down there, I received a Joint Service Commendation Medal for the job I did while there. In October 2005 I transferred from the Naval Medical Center and went to Commander, Destroyer Squadron 28 where I act as the Supply Officer for my command and ensure that the 5 ships that are under my cognizance do their jobs in accordance with put forth guidelines. I transferred to Regional Supply Office in February 2010 and I'm currently under order to report to the USS MITSCHER (DDG-57) in March 2013. I have been married to Wendy Wills since October 2000. We have one daughter, Kendle Mekenzie, and one son on Leland Michael.
