Today's Featured Biography
Ben Carver
Went to Penn State Wilkes Barre after graduation as a surveying major, preferred chasing falling leaves to operating the total station or learning all that math so I dropped out after the first year. No regrets, had an excellent time with the friends I made that year and learned a lot from it in retrospect.
The family moved to Prescott, AZ about then so I went with them and spent some years there while spending seasons in cool places around the country through coolworks.com.
Went to massage school near Asheville, NC in 2003. Learned a lot but didn't practice much, I naturally have very little interest in money or accumulating possessions, preferring freedom of movement and learning stuff based on interest and the value I perceive in it. Went to VT in 2006, that became home base, still wandered around a lot, but always kept coming back to VT. Got into gardening, that became my main jam, primary career and interest, metaphor for life, all that good stuff. Fried my brain extra crispy with facebook and youtube for about 15 years, but quit those, deleted my accounts.
Now I just want to chill out in my hammock, make a bunch of gardens with cool people, and cook the food we grew together around the campfire. Generally wander around on a solar powered ebike and regenerate devastated ecosystems with my hobo gardening superpowers :)
Romance hasn't been too important to me, dipped my toe into love, but had far too much monkey-mind chaos to sort out to have space for a complex relationship. Will be 40 this year and still have loads of energy and vibing on all sorts of stuff, same as always. Perhaps I will naturally mellow at some point and settle down, but I doubt it.
I feel very grateful that my parents moved us from AZ to Jacobus when I was 8. I grew up with many lovely people.
