Today's Featured Biography
Christopher Cunningham
After high school, I spent 12 years in the Navy, and was discharged after being hurt in a training accident.
I went to work for a deep sea salvage company in Maryland (Oceaneering, Intl.), and spent three and a half very busy years going around the world picking up airplanes, salvaging ships, and recovering human remains from the deep ocean. I did the ValuJet recovery from the Everglades, TWA Flt800 near Long Island, Bergen Airways off of Puerto Plata Dominican Republic, too many military aircraft all over the world, and several high profile recoveries including the crew from the MV Mineral Dampier 400+ feet deep between S. Korea and Japan.
Whew...loved the job, but hated having to do it.
I entered York College as a biology major in 1997 and finished in 2001 with degrees in biology and chemistry. My senior project was on Lyme disease and deer tick ecology. I stayed and worked at YCP for two years as the lab manager and chemical hygine officer; I also taught general biology, oceanography and marine biology as an adjunct faculty member. After 9/11 I wanted to get involved, and got a teaching job as a government contractor with General Physics, Corp. at Aberdeen Proving Grounds.
I taught basic, analytical, and instrumental chemistry; along with environmental and quality assurance statistics for the chemical weapons destruction program. I plugged away there for four years and finaly got an Army/ civil service job working for the Army as THE science and technology advisor for the Army's only EOD and WMD organization, the 20th Support Command (CBRNE).
I work everyday with our coalition partners, federal agents, Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines in the fight against terrorism, WMD, and IEDs, and I work to develop scientific and technological solutions to assist in the counter-proliferation of WMDs. I tell people I have been preparing for this job my whole life.
I have two great kids; my son graduated D-town in '09 and has enlisted in the Army to become an Airborne Ranger (And yes; I am very proud of him, this will make me work even harder), my daughter's running cross-country and she'll graduate '16...damn.
Debbie Ricker (Mars Hill, NC; Mars Hill College, ETSU, and JHU) and I have been together since 2001, and our life together is GREAT!
Debbie, the kids, and I travel (I travel a lot), sail, bike, kayak, and work in our very humble garden.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
